High-Res Gaming Peformance:
Summary:
The multi-core optimisations in Quake 4 seemed to show some benefits for the Core 2 Extreme QX6700 at 1600x1200 – it turned out to be the fastest chip we’ve tested in this title. However, it’s worth noting that those benefits are going to disappear once you start putting more load on the video card with anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering in the same way that a typical gamer would.
Both Call Of Duty 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode One, the Core 2 Extreme QX6700 was slightly slower than the Core 2 Duo E6700 that operates at the same clock speeds. Again though, you’re not going to notice the differences in the real world, even before adding anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering into the equation.
